Part 4 - From Reeuwijk to Gouda

"De wereld is van mij."

Reeuwijk - Gouda

After a two-week break, we took a short walk through the Dutch polders. We had a late start this Sunday because the first bus from Gouda to Reeuwijk arrived around lunchtime. We walked a little over 18km in less than four hours, bringing the total to 80km.

This time, we walked on a typical Dutch winter day: cloudy and gray with freezing temperatures! The canals were covered with a layer of ice. Not thick and robust enough to simulate an old-fashioned Dutch winter scene with skaters gliding over frozen canals. It didn’t keep a swimmer from diving into the cold “Reeuwijkse plassen”!

Despite this dark day, we enjoyed the Dutch landscape with its animals. Swans, herons, and many other birds thrive in this green landscape. The cute pony guy or girl was curious to see us, coming closer, allowing me to take an adorable picture. It did not block the way but let us pass without any problems.
