On March 16th, we locked the door early once more. We walked a short way to the Blauwe Brug and caught the first bus to the station. While waiting, I noticed I had lost the blanket somewhere along the way. There was no time to go back since bus 74 was already arriving.
The rest of the trip by train and plane went smoothly, and soon we arrived at O’Hare with Hemmes and our suitcase. Our son was there to pick us up, and we drove home to a warm family welcome.
The Sitting Stretch
After a quick meal, we headed to the hotel for an early night. The next day, my babysitting weeks began. First two weeks with our grandson. The last week with the grand pets, while the young parents and their toddler were enjoying a short break in Florida.
With over three weeks, we had plenty of time to get used to the time zone and weather. Busy days with an energetic toddler, along with nice coffee dates with old friends, made for a smooth return to our nomadic life in the States.
