A Wet Hiking Adventure at Georgia International Horse Park

A Hike at the Olympic Horse Park

After our visit to the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library, we drove to the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers. This park was originally developed as the site for equestrian events during the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympic Games.
The scenery was defined by yesterday’s heavy rainfall, creating a mix of beauty and a bit of a challenge. Tiny water drops clung to every spider web along the trail, making the forest look like an exclusive store filled with diamonds. Luckily, we didn’t get any additional rain during our hike. However, we still had some challenges to overcome since part of the trail was submerged because the Yellow River had swollen past its banks.
Near the end of our hike, we faced a long stretch of flooded trail, so we had to decide whether to turn back and walk an extra 7 miles or get our feet wet. We chose the latter, wading through knee-high water with our shoes in our hands. It certainly made this hike memorable!
