From 12.12.2022 to 12.26.2022

It was wonderful to be back in Oregon after two and a half years away.

Our cozy Airbnb in downtown Oak Grove, near Milwaukie, provided a perfect base for exploring the area. The Trolley Trail, decorated with beautifully carved sculptures, was just around the corner, while the Max Light Rail was just a mile away.

Additionally, family and friends were within a half-hour drive, making it easy to reconnect over the holidays. This year, we had the joy of celebrating Christmas with our son and daughter-in-law. Our youngest son joined us virtually via FaceTime for a while, and we shared many precious moments. We enjoyed delicious food, festive Christmas music, heartwarming Christmas movies, engaging conversations, and the challenge of piecing together a not-so-easy jigsaw puzzle.

And the day after, we said goodbye to this cozy, comfortable, convenient Airbnb, the last one in our 2022 adventure. since we are flying back to the Netherlands. We drove the Hillsboro apartment in the afternoon, ate some leftovers, and worked a little more on the jigsaw puzzle. I also headed to the stores for some last-minute Christmas shopping. In the evening, our son drove us to Portland International Airport for our red-eye flight to Chicago International.

As we were sitting near the gate, we reflected on our adventure and felt grateful for the chance to explore the United States. In 2022, we again gathered many unforgettable memories traveling around the country. America is truly a beautiful land.
