A Welcoming Break Spoiling the Grandpets at Home!

Grandpet Pampering & Personal Recharge

On August 11th, we drove back to Hillsboro, OR, from Trinidad, CA. This was a return to base camp so our son and daughter-in-law could go on their vacation while we pet-sat our grandpets. We were greeted with a warm welcome, complete with a beautiful bouquet of red flowers!

For three weeks, all the pets were spoiled with cuddles, outdoor walks, occasional spa days, and regular combing and brushing. Perhaps they got too much spoiling, as the (grand)pets signaled, β€œLet us be, Oma; it is time for us to rest.”

It was also a necessary break from all our traveling. During those three weeks, I recharged by simply walking the dog a few times a day and meeting up with old friends for a chat and coffee.

Anniversary Reflections, A Full Circle of Family and Adventure

On August 30th, we celebrated 32 years of marriage, the two of us at home just with our grandpets. It felt like a throwback to 1988 when we first started dating: an active couple with one cat, already enjoying walks, hikes, and making memories.

Thirty-five years later, we are back doing the same activities again, though now with a different feline friend. Our two incredible sons and a fantastic daughter-in-law are leading their lives and following their paths. There is so much to be thankful for and grateful for.
