Spring 2026, A Different Kind of Adventure
This spring, our “Traveling through the States” adventure looked a little different. Instead of crisscrossing thousands of miles, as we had since July 2020, we settled in Illinois. We exchanged our nomadic life for just a few stays near Naperville, close to our son, daughter-in-law, and grandson.

Ultimately, this change came down to a few realizations. We wanted to truly discover “home.” Although we’d lived in Naperville, IL, for years, our busy lives then left little time to enjoy our own town as tourists.
Two years ago, we became “Opa and Oma,” and with our grandson now at such a curious age, we wanted to be close for precious moments with him and his parents, as well as offer babysitting so our son and daughter-in-law could have a toddler break.
And, after nearly six years away, I also reached a point where I needed a break from the constant stream of new places. Instead, I processed everything we had experienced.
