Hot Springs National Park - Day 2

Mountain Views and Natural Wonders in Hot Springs National Park

Our hike began at the Hot Springs National Park West Mountain sign. We started with the Mountain Top Trail, and this invigorating climb tested my calves while going up. However, this leg-stretching adventure rewarded us with breathtaking panoramic views of Hot Spring in the distance below.
We soaked in the scenery for a while and descended the steep, switchbacked carriage road to the other side of the mountain, following the Canyon Trail. Then our heart rates went up again, climbing North Mountain straight to the iconic Mountain Towers, an observation tower built in 1983.

Our return journey became a leisurely stroll. Via the Mountain and Honey Suckle Trails, we wound our back down, eventually reaching the crown jewel of Hot Springs, the Grand Promenade. This beautiful half-mile brick walking path is located behind the historic Bathhouse Row. Along this National Recreational Trail, we finally saw the natural miracles that give the park its name—hot water springs with water flowing through the wall with rocks or bubbling up to the surface.
