Via the majestuous beech avenue along the Schipbeek, we entered the Achterhoek. The Achterhoek is a unique part of the Netherlands with a varied scenic landscape of meadows, hedgerows, brooks, and forests. While hiking, we could feel and see the Achterhoekse history when we passed enchanting estates like the Verwolde house, the Velhorst estate, and Castle Den Bramel.

We arrived early in Vorden, and after showering and changing, we enjoyed sitting outside at the hotel restaurant De Gravin in Vorden.
