The Rijnhuizen Concert, A Rainy Finale
The pouring rain couldn’t discourage us. While getting soaked, we stayed to watch and hear the Rijnhuizen Concert 2022 on the Merwedekanaal near the Rijnhuizerbrug, just a short walk from our apartment.
This two-hour musical event was the grand finale of Nieuwegein’s 50th anniversary celebration, ending with a powerful ode to the city. The final song, “City of Locks and Water,” was written by Ton de Gruijter and set to the familiar melody of “Land of Hope and Glory.”
