The Gullah Geechee Soul of Boone Hall

As one of the oldest plantations in the US, 340-year-old Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens was on our to-do list. We enjoyed the tractor tour around the property; Boone Hall is still a working farm producing various products.

The drive up the 250+-year-old Avenue of Oaks was mesmerizing, as was the mansion and garden. Boone Hall Plantation accurately portrays two sides of plantation life and includes the story of the enslaved people. We saw several exhibitions in former slave cabins.

What stood out to me was the Gullah Geechee show, a live show performed by a singer with a fantastic voice. She left an unforgettable impression by singing and telling stories about the culture of the enslaved Gullah Geechee people.
