Hiking the Tall Trees Grove - Day 4
Our Pre-Hike Adventure at Tall Trees Grove

The drive to the trailhead was a memorable part of the trip as well. The narrow, winding dirt road stretched for miles and was an adventure by itself. We were so glad we drove a small car and didn’t have oncoming traffic, as this road was hard to navigate. We saw deer and a woodpecker, both seemingly undisturbed by our presence as they went about their business. And at the Redwood Creek Overlook, we got a fantastic view of old-growth redwoods and once-logged forests growing next to each other.

Our Humbling Experience with the Giants
The hike was exactly as described, challenging, but incredibly rewarding. As we descended into the floodplain of Redwood Creek, the landscape changed. It was a humbling experience to walk among these giants, many of them soaring over 350 feet into the sky. The size of the redwoods here is astonishing, proving the perfect conditions of the grove for redwoods with abundant water and protection from the elements.

A Rewarding End & Goodbye to Redwood NP
What goes down must go up! The hike became even more strenuous on our way back to the parking lot. We now had to climb 800 feet over 1.5 miles. Still, despite testing our knees and calves, this exclusive trip was absolutely worth every minute. A
And … it was the perfect way to say goodbye to these living monuments and end our exploration of the Redwood National Park.
