Spa Day, Forest Walks, and Friendship in Lunteren
A Weekend Escape in The Veluwe near Lunteren
With my closest friend, we first enjoyed a day at the spa at SpaVeluwe in Lunteren. An activity our spouses preferred to skip. After an excellent and much-needed massage, we drove a short distance to the recently rebuilt Hotel de Werelt for a delicious dinner and relaxation. After a long and good night’s sleep, we took a nice walk through the Dennenhorst and Lunterse Buurtbosch

.
De Werelt is situated on the edge of the beautiful Veluwe region. Even with a map provided by the hotel, we still got lost, so by chance, we stumbled upon the De Koepel, a lookout tower on top of the Galgenberg. The Lunterse Buurtbosch is a landscaped walking forest created by Notaris Van den Ham, who opened it to the Lunterse population. After his death, he bequeathed the tower and forest to the people of Lunteren, who continue to enjoy it today.
As always, our yearly weekend getaway was filled with relaxation, delicious food, and enjoying each other’s company. When we drove home, we were already planning and looking forward to our next annual escape..
