Scherpenzeel to Amersfoort

The central theme of today’s Utrecht Path hike was the Eem River, approximately 18 kilometers (11 miles) long, which officially begins at the 15th-century Koppelpoort on the northwest side of the historic center of Amersfoort.
On this early, foggy Sunday morning, we hardly saw any people in Amersfoort’s medieval downtown, which is usually buzzing with activity. A picture without tourists at the Koppelpoort is, therefore, truly unique.
We followed the Grebbelinie again for a few miles. Near Baarn, the sun broke through, and for the last few miles, we finally saw the Eem beautifully meandering through Utrecht’s landscape
