New York City – Day 3

Tuesday, April 1, 2008 - Day 3

We checked out of the hotel room at around 11.00 am and left the luggage in the hotel’s storage room, where we would pick it up around 16.00 pm.

We took the metro to the Little Italy and Chinatown area. Little Italy is just a few blocks in size; Chinatown is much bigger and more recognizable. The stands before the Chinese shops showed exotic fish, herbs, and other foods.

The Brooklyn Bridge is the first bridge made from steel. We crossed it to the second pillar. We also went to see Wall Street, the Federal Reserve Bank, the Federal Hall National Monument with the statue of George Washington, and the New York Stock Exchange.

Then it was again time to return to the hotel to pick up our luggage and visit hubby’s friend, who has an apartment in Manhattan near Central Park and had invited us.

.

For dinner, we went to a Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood, where our youngest son ate sushi for the first time in his life, with sticks!
