Pieter Path

After a good night’s sleep and a delicious breakfast (and dinner the evening before) at the Herberg van Anderen in Anderen, we were ready for another Pieter path hiking day through stream valleys with flowery grasslands, manufactured production forests, several wetlands, and heather. In Schoonloo, we had our first break. We could not get a much-needed coffee since the restaurants were closed. However, we got our coffee waiting at the bus pick-up point along the Pieterpad trail at Ellertshaar. The sign said, “Please grab a coffee! A contribution is voluntary, nevertheless appreciated!” This small gesture of kindness is undoubtedly part of the Pieter Pad experience! The little money box on the table had earned a few extra euros before we left to catch the bus!
