Strolling Around in Corpus Christi, TX

A Day Among Corpus Christi's Past and Future

I walked to the area near the historic Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge from the seawall to capture some bridge photos. As a bridge enthusiast—no, not the game—I always enjoy going the extra mile for a good photo opportunity. Next to the historic bridge, a new bridge is under construction —it truly dwarfs the existing one!
Wandering back to the car, I stumbled upon Heritage Park! This beautiful gem is an open-air museum with twelve historic houses built between the 1850s and early 1900s! Corpus Christi doesn’t have many structures predating a devastating 1919 storm. These twelve houses, showcasing a variety of architectural styles from the period, somehow defied the hurricanes and the years. Today, each of these structures is a designated Texas Historical Landmark.

There Is Magic in Old and New!

Corpus Christi, with its historic charm and futuristic bridge project, illustrates Posey’s observation: ‘There is magic in the old and magic in the new; the trick is to combine the two successfully.'”
